ORANGE -- ripe, juicy and uninhibited, orange can revive any color palette and add just the right amount of spice to a room. Zesty orange is a color that remains warm in all its variations – from fiery sunset to ripe peach. Paired with earthy shades, it conjures old-world charm; combined with pink and turquoise, it showcases a festive outlay; and when mixed with white, it becomes a gentle pastel hue.
Making Orange Work: reconsider orange as a go-to color for sophistication and fun. Some tips:
- Keep orange chic rather than overwhelming by painting a pale tone on one wall and neutrals on the other walls.
- Place darker woods in a room with orange walls. Lighter maples and pines may blend right into your color.
- Use a graphic pattern on soft furnishings that matches the boldness of the orange hue on the walls.
- Mix in accessories of equal intensity such as lime green, vivid blue, candy-apple red, or chocolate brown.
- Use an orange-patterned rug with a light background on the floor.
